World Trade Center

I recently went and saw Oliver Stones' "World trade Center" and I must say I did like it. Which is very strange for me as anyone who knows me can attest because I am not a fan of his movies, in general. The acting by Nick Cage was as usual a bit over done, but acceptable. The topic was just right. For thoose on the right who say it is a watered down version of that day, I say to you NO it is a human point of view, no political BS, no "let's play the blame game", just honest human heroism. For the left it is not denounceing the war, or blaming anyone, it is showing america united. Focusing on two heroes was the right way to do this movie.

Tell me this ain't spun!

I was looking through a local paper and saw this headline:
British Claim To Foil Major Airline Terror Plot
By DANICA KIRKA Associated Press Writer
Now this story is barely 12 hours old and the AP is already doubting that it was real? What the hell does it take to get decent press when we stop a terrorist action??!!

Can't wait to hear the excuse.

"Police: Kids stole jewelry on orders from mom, & grandma."
Well I wonder if the defense attorneys will try blaming this one on television, comicbooks, or maybe even professional wrestling. I am sorry but this is one case where personal responsibility is definetly in play. I mean after all the mom is there to teach right from wrong, not felony from misdemeanor.
I really don't get it. The mother and grandmother did not have enough guts to do it themselves!? Imagine this child from now on.

Statue of Liberty's crown to stay closed

"Statue of Liberty's crown to stay closed."
So the so called responsible legeslators want to intefere. Is this not the perview of the parks department? If they don't feel comfortable re-opening it why should the higher ups interefere. Do not force them to change thier mind find ways around it. The staircase and crown was originally designed for maintenance work not tourist, let it be that way.I guess it is true the Goverment does not have enough to worry about.
I have been to New York, and talked to people who have been there recently, none of us felt bad because we could not go to the crown, we understood. The saying is "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." No where does it say you have the right to BE happy, just to pursue it.
Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., who has sought to force the National Park Service to reopen the crown, called the decision "the final victory of the terrorists on Sept. 11." OH PLEASE!!!! like he really cares the man is a dem from New York. Could it be more likely it would make people feel good if the crown was reopened and they were able to go see the skyline from up there. Reopening the crown brings New York one step closer to being pre- 9/11. Which should never happen! No one should ever forget, not that most true New Yorkers would, or fully forgive.

Is anyone really surprised

I was reading the USAToday, this morning when this headline caught my eye.
"LONDON (AP) — British authorities said Thursday they had thwarted a terrorist plot to simultaneously blow up several aircraft to the U.S. using explosives smuggled in hand luggage, averting what police described as "mass murder on an unimaginable scale.""
Now is anyone out there really shocked that terrorist would attempt a repeat preformance with a twist on a tried but true method? Don't know what I am talking about think Lockabie, Scotland, Think about the infamously stupid sneaker bomber.
Many in this country would be throwing a fit about the delays they are having at Heathrow, but anyone with half a brain would understand.
When you spend the kind of time the Brits did on this you want to make sure it is right, you do not bust the bad guys then go on like nothing happened. There is always the chance that someone slipped by so you institute major safety routines for awhile. It is what is smart.
My hat of to the British goverment in all thier efforts in the war on terrorism and self preservation.

Greetings
